The National Association of School Superintendents (NASS) has joined forces with the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) to offer a unique professional learning experience designed to build capacity to lead for equity and social justice in order to close educational gaps. The NASS Equity and Social Justice Certification Program in conjunction with the ACSA Equity Project Professional Learning Network, is rich program designed for district teams and individual leaders from all educational levels across the state and nation to assist in the development of deep belief systems and understanding of diversity that empowers them to be proactive and responsive to the unique and diverse needs of the communities they serve. This collaborative approach comprises of a professional learning network of cohorts from California, Oregon, Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee, and Kansas. These teams have deeply engaged in research based content, collaborative cycles of improvement, as well as the development of equity action plans that support the implementation of the LCAP priorities.

As districts around the state seek to address the equity gaps illustrated in the Data Dashboard, Superintendents find themselves in the challenging position of aligning resources to the unique needs of all students. In this session, participants will learn about the journey of educational leaders who have built capacity through the NASS and ACSA program as well as tools and strategies that they can engage in to effectively implement an equity action plan and innovatively align resources in order confront the challenges that face students.
