Superintendent table talks will focus on how district leaders can build their capacity to implement strategies that close educational gaps. Districts across the state have the challenge of addressing the needs of all students in the midst of lacking resources, time, and human capitol. This session will provide participants opportunities to reflect on current educational data, research, and best practices around meeting the needs of students who have historically been underserved in the educational system. It will foster an opportunity to be reflective of the role of the superintendent in leading for equity. Participants will engage in deep and courageous dialogue with colleagues to share ideas and reflect further on challenges and practical strategies to close the gaps through the lens of the current LCFF initiative. Each table will focus on a specific group of students including: Foster Youth, LGBT+, African American, Asian, Pacific Islander, Native American, White, Filipino, Latino(a), and students with disabilities. The table talk dialogue will be captured in a closing activity where the group will share their take aways and commitments to effectively serve the underserved in the educational system.
